  22.          THE PRESIDENT:  Thank you.  Please sit down.  Thank you 
  23. very much.  We just want to welcome you here.  The big bonus of this 
  24. evening is there are no speeches and no politics, and I just want to 
  25. welcome you here and thank you for coming.
  26.          
  27.          I also want you to know that this tent now has a 
  28. hallowed heritage.  On Saturday night I had my 25th college reunion 
  29. under this tent and nobody left until 1:30 a.m.; so don't feel 
  30. bashful if you want to stay awhile.
  31.          
  32.          It is always a privilege to serve our country, but this 
  33. is a unique time for all of us because of the point in history in 
  34. which we find ourselves.  And I just thought it would be great if we 
  35. could get together and enjoy each other's company, get to know each 
  36. other a little better.  
  37.          
  38.          I thank you all for coming, all of you for bringing your 
  39. spouses, your staff members, your friends, and I hope you enjoy 
  40. yourselves tonight.  This is, after all, your place.  I'm just a 
  41. temporary tenant.  I'm glad to be here, glad to welcome you here, and 
  42. I wanted Hillary to say a word, too, because we're both so pleased to 
  43. be a part of this evening.  Thank you again for coming.  (Applause.)

  45.          MRS. CLINTON:  Thank you.  Thank you very much.  I just 
  46. want to add my word of welcome, and it is really a summer celebration 
  47. tonight.  It's the first real day of the Washington summer for those 
  48. of you who have never experienced it before.  And one of secret 
  49. weapons that Arkansas produces is being served tonight, and that's a 
  50. tamale from a place called Doe's.  Any of you who were in Little Rock 
  51. in the last year know that, and they're back by special request and 
  52. demand.
  53.          
  54.          But we're just delighted to have you here.  We're 
  55. delighted to have a chance to visit with you.  And we're going to 
  56. have some great music, in addition to what we've already heard in 
  57. just a minute, from a group called "Riders in the Sky," if any of you 
  58. have heard them.  And so enjoy yourself and I hope we get a chance to 
  59. visit some more.  Thank you all.
